UC
Berkeley Haas Letter to CCC
Dear
Articulation Officers and Counselors,
I
hope your summer is off to a great start. As always for students, faculty,
and staff of the Haas School of Business Undergraduate Program at UC Berkeley,
the Academic Year began in early July. The summer component of our program
continues to be a wonderful opportunity for students to get a head start on our
required core business courses and to get off to a cohesive start together at
Haas.
We
would like to make you aware of the following admission policies and hope you
will pass this information along to your students:
Breadth
The

Students
applying in Fall 2008 must follow the 9-Course Breadth

The new
Seven-Course breadth requirement consists of the following categories:
Students
must take one course from each category. All 7 courses must be completed by the
end of the Spring term prior to their start at the
Haas Undergraduate Program.
Students
must meet the breadth requirement through course work. Advanced Placement, A
level or International Baccalaureate credit will not fulfill breadth
requirements.
All courses must be UC transferable and carry at least 2 semester or 3 quarter units. Business courses, prerequisites and micro/macro economics cannot be used for breadth. The above changes will be reflected on the 08-09 articulation agreements on www.assist.org
Computer
Science Prerequisite
Haas
has eliminated the computer science prerequisite. Computer science is no longer
required for admission.
Students Admitted to UC
Berkeley as Junior Transfers to Other Majors
Transfer students who are interested in the business major at UC Berkeley
should apply directly to the Business Administration major of the Haas School
of Business. Students admitted to UC
Berkeley as junior transfers to any other College/major are no longer eligible
to apply to the Haas Undergraduate Program after they enroll at
Repeating Prerequisites
If
a student has repeated or taken more than one course to fulfill a prerequisite,
the student must use the first attempt to satisfy the requirement if a grade of
C- or higher was received. If a student receives a D+ or lower in a
prerequisite the course must be repeated. If the
student received a C- or higher for the first attempt the prerequisite should
not be repeated.
Foreign

students who attended high school outside of the
Literature/Writing
Requirement
The Literature/Writing requirement is in addition to the English/R&C requirement and must be satisfied by the completion of a literature or writing course offered by the English, English Literature or English Writing departments. English/Reading and Composition and ESL courses cannot be used to fulfill this requirement. The course must be UC-transferable for at least 3 semester or 4 quarter units.
I
encourage all of you to contact me if you have any questions or comments and I
ask you to assist us by forwarding this e-mail to students who may be
interested in the business major at UC Berkeley.

you,
