Dear Colleague,

SJSU will soon open to undergraduate applicants for the Spring 2009 admission cycle. Because we expect to have record enrollments for this coming fall and to balance out our academic year enrollment, SJSU will significantly limit the application period for the spring term. Please advise students to apply early and meet all deadlines.

UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATION STATUS--SPRING 2009
Undergraduate applicants must apply during the month of August for the Spring 2009 term. SJSU closes for all undergraduate applicants at 11:59 pm PDT on Sunday, August 31, 2008. This includes all undergraduate international applications.

ENROLLMENT LIMITATIONS--SPRING 2009
Freshman 'deferred' to Spring from the Fall 2008 term
There are fewer than 50 students who took part in the reconsideration process for fall and who chose to attend in the spring term instead. Those students are being tracked through the process and most will enter as lower division transfers. These few students are not restricted by major. We are in communication with these students on an individual basis.
Other frosh
SJSU has traditionally offered admission to frosh at the mid-year. Fewer than 100 first-time frosh normally apply for spring admission.
Lower division transfers
Closed to all majors except:
engineering (aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, general, industrial and systems, materials, mechanical, software)
nursing
Admission will be based on a combination of high school record, SAT or ACT (if required) and college work to date. See http://info.sjsu.edu > admissions for details.
Options for students who are not interested in those majors:
* Remain at the student’s ‘home’ campus and complete the requirements for upper division transfer.
* Apply to CSU East Bay.
Upper division transfers

* Basic skills courses must be completed by Summer 2008.
